This artwork is a diptych composed of two panels that together narrate a symbolic journey of struggle, growth, and liberation. The upper section of each canvas is made of textured white cement, evoking a rough, heavy, almost oppressive surface, while the lower section is painted in a deep, calm blue with acrylic, suggesting depth, contrast, and possibility.
Across the composition, small human-like figures appear, each holding a sign with a single letter. When read together, they form the phrase “Viva La Vida,” which gives the piece its title and central message. On the darker, lower side, one figure is depicted hanging and striving to climb upward, suggesting difficulty and effort in escaping adversity. As the eye moves across to the second panel, the narrative evolves: the figure reaches the boundary between the dark and light areas, emerges onto the surface, and ultimately rises into the air, lifted by a helium balloon.
The overall composition creates a clear upward trajectory, almost like a visual graph of progress, reinforcing the metaphor of personal ascent in life. Esta obra es un díptico compuesto por dos paneles que, en conjunto, narran un viaje simbólico de lucha, crecimiento y liberación. La parte superior de cada lienzo está realizada con cemento blanco texturizado, evocando una superficie rugosa, pesada y casi opresiva, mientras que la parte inferior está pintada con acrílico en un azul profundo y sereno, sugiriendo profundidad, contraste y posibilidad.
A lo largo de la composición aparecen pequeñas figuras humanas, cada una sosteniendo un cartel con una letra. Al leerse en conjunto, forman la frase “Viva La Vida”, que da título a la obra y constituye su mensaje central. En la zona inferior, más oscura, una figura aparece colgando y tratando de ascender, lo que sugiere dificultad y esfuerzo por salir de la adversidad. A medida que la mirada avanza hacia el segundo panel, la narrativa evoluciona: la figura alcanza el límite entre la zona oscura y la clara, emerge a la superficie y finalmente se eleva en el aire, sostenida por un globo de helio.
